HOME BUYER BENEFITS FROM 01.09.2014

FIRST HOME OWNER’S GRANT (FHOG)

$10,000 for newly built properties or new homes still to be built. Maximum price $750,000.
First Home Buyers must occupy the new home within 12 months of settlement and live there for at least 12 months.
From 01.07.2013, there is no longer any FHOG for purchase of established properties

STAMP DUTY BENEFITS

There are 2 stamp duty concessions currently available in Victoria:

  1. Principal Place of Residence (PPR) discount : available for ANY owner-occupier who will live in the property for at least 12 months. Maximum price $550,000. Maximum stamp duty discount $3,100
  2. 50% First Home Buyer stamp duty discount : buyers must be settling the purchase on or after 01.09.2014. Purchase price must not exceed $600,000

First Home Buyers can receive BOTH of these duty discounts if buying for less than $550,000 in Victoria

Both of the above stamp duty discounts for first home buyers can be applied for by completing the SRO Form 61. Your solicitor or conveyancer can complete this form for you.

If you are a second/subsequent home buyer eligible to claim the PPR discount, complete SRO Form 53D .
